The Bruins have signed Marchand to a four-year contract extension through the 2016-17 season, the Bruins' official site reports. The report notes that his deal will be worth an average of $4.5 million a year.

The energetic Marchand, who racked up 55 points (including 28 goals) and 87 PIMs in 76 games to go along with a tidy plus-31 rating in 2011-12.
