The Dallas Stars acquired Derek Roy from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Steve Ott and Adam Pardy.

Roy is expected to fill a top-six role for the Stars, while Ott brings a touch of grit to the Sabres' lineup.

"More than anything else we needed to move the balance of skill versus the physical nature of our game, being a tougher team to play against," GM Darcy Regier told the Buffalo News. "Steve can play as a complement to our higher-skill guys and contribute in a lot of different ways. I think he'll be very valuable for us."
