Posted by Landon Ewaniuk on October 3, 2012 at 2:30 AM

Thomas Vanek is the best Austrian born player to ever play in the National Hockey League, and recently, The Buffalo News reported Vanek  will go back to his native land to play for the Graz 99ers while the NHL is in lockdown. Many local hockey fans have to be excited with their heroes decision.

Vanek is the fourth member of the Sabres to commit to play overseas during the lockout, joining Christian Ehrhoff (Germany), Tyler Ennis (Switzerland) and Andrej Sekera (Slovakia). The deal has not yet been completed due to insurance issues, but Vanek is expected to reach a deal with Graz by the end of the week.
