I realize that every human being has to say goodbye to their career at some point. Yet, I feel deeply saddened that Nicklas Lidstrom will go longer be featured in the NHL.  Nicklas Lidstrom is the best defenseman I will ever seePlay the game.  Actually, forget that. One of the best hockey players period. 

   

Lidstrom could have easily played another 10 years and probably still, would have raked in Norris Trophies, as the National Hockey League's best defenseman. What makes today's announcement so shocking is the fact that the Detroit Red Wings will host the 2013 Winter Classic against the Toronto Maple Leafs. I was sure this event would keep Lindstrom going for one more year.

Now that his career is officially over: What was Nicklas Lidstrom's greatest accomplishment?
